Lode is active in various orchestras, regularly performs as a soloist and is a Besson artist. He has travelled to several bands in Europe & the United States of America, and has been the Principal Cornet of Brassband Willebroek since 2011, winning six national titles, a European title and a world title. It’s no secret to say that Lode can’t keep up with his prizes and awards!
He currently teaches Brass, Ensemble & Conducting at the GO! Academy for Music and Drama Willebroek, is affiliated with the Kunsthumaniora Brussel as a teacher for brass and started as Saxhorn Teacher at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp in September 2020.
Lode was born in Jette in 1995 and started his cornet education at the GO! Academy for Music & Drama Willebroek at the age of six, adding piano a year later. At the age of fourteen, Lode followed his teacher and father Frans Violet to the Kunsthumaniora Brussel, graduating with distinction.
In 2017, Lode achieved a Master of Arts music degree at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp as a cornet player tutored by Frans Violet, followed two years later by an Academic Teacher Training’s degree.
The composer in Lode started at the age of 19 and he has since written dozens of compositions and arrangements. He wrote an opening piece Sång till Norden for Brassband Willebroek at the gala concert of the 2015 Swedish Brass Band Championships, and his work has collected many winning performances at competitions. A few years later Lode also wrote the solo piece, A Tiny Trilogy for Tim De Maeseneer’s debut album.
Lode also started a career in 2017 as a conductor, and this has proved very successful: Young Brassband Willebroek became Belgian champion twice (3rd division and 2nd division) and achieved a first place in 1st division at the Flemish Open Brass Band Championships. With Mercator Brassband he also won the Dutch Open Brass Band Championships in 2nd division.
Lode, who currently plays an Alliance 3 mouthpiece (having switched many times between 2 and 3 in the past!), is joining us as a new Alliance Artist, and says ‘having played on the Alliance mouthpieces for a very long time already, it’s kind of a dream to be able to promote this brand as an artist of the future.’ We look forward to sharing his enthusiasm, skills, and musicality.
