Jérémie Favre

Jérémie Favre was born on the 21st May 1997 in Vetroz in the Canton of Valais (Switzerland). Since he was very young, he had a great admiration for Brass Band music and was encouraged to play trombone by his father. At the age of 7, Jérémie received his first trombone lessons from Bertrand Moren. In August 2011, he joined the B-Band of Brass Band Treize Etoiles and was appointed solo trombone two years later. During that year, Jérémie had the opportunity to participate in a summer course at the Tibor Varga Music Academy with Dany Bonvin (solo trombone of the Munich Philharmonic.

In 2015, he became solo trombone of Brass Band Concordia Vetroz and joined the A-Band of Brass Band Treize Etoiles. As a soloist, Jérémie won the title of Valaisan trombone champion in 2016. Afterwards, he held the position of solo trombone of the National Youth Brass Band of Switzerland for four years. In 2018, he was nominated to join the European Youth Brass Band as solo trombone in Utrecht (Holland).

Following this wonderful experience, Jérémie decided to realise his dream by going to study music in Manchester at the famous University of Salford. During his studies, he had the privilege of receiving trombone lessons from Dr. Brett Baker and composition/arrangement lectures with Dr. Dan Price and Dr. Robin Dewhurst. Since arriving in the UK, Jérémie had the opportunity to perform as solo trombone with the renowned Brighouse and Rastrick Band under the direction of Professor David King and Russel Gray.

In January 2020, Jérémie was appointed principal trombone of the famous Leyland Band and had the honour to perform in some exceptional concert halls such as the Royal Albert Hall in London or the Symphony Hall in Birmingham. A month later, he won the Uni Brass competition with the University of Salford Brass Band and obtained a fantastic second place in the 2022 edition during which Jérémie had the privilege of being the soloist.

In June 2022, Jérémie was awarded a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours in Musical Arts (Performance & Conducting). Having achieved the highest mark in Conducting, Jérémie was awarded the Roy Newsome Conducting Award by the University of Salford. After his return to Switzerland, he had the great opportunity to be the trombone teacher at some summer courses such as the Swiss National Youth Brass Band (NJBB), the Jugend Brass Band Forum Ostschweiz (JBBFO) and the Solothurner Blasmusikverband Jugend Brass Band (SOBV).
