Javier Colomer is an active international trombone player and teacher. His appearances take place often in several Latin American, USA, Asia and European countries, performing solo recitals, concerts and masterclasses.
Javier has more than 30 years of teaching experience, he has taught and coached more than 1200 students from various Conservatories, Universities and Music Schools both nationally (Spain) and international (for instance Uruguay, Venezuela, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Germany, England, Iceland, Portugal, Switzerland, South Korea, USA…).
He has collaborated with various orchestras including the Galicia Symphony Orchestra,
Gulbenkian (Portugal), Aalborg Symphony Orchestra (Denmark). In Spain he performs as soloist with Alicante Symphony Orchestra, Almansa Symphony Orchestra, Ruperto Chapi Symphony Orchestra, Alicante Municipal Wind Band, Castellón Municipal Wind Band, Valencia Symphony Orchestra, Elche Symphony Orchestra and Madrid Municipal Wind Band, all that are well recognized professional ensembles.
He has made several recordings as an ensemble player with various wind bands including Filharmonia Winds Orchestra, the CD “Eruptions” recorded with the trombone section of Island Symphony Orchestra …
In terms of his contribution to the world of trombone literature, Javier has published the first method for contrabass trombone entitled “The World of The Contrabass Trombone ” and since then he has published many other books for Tenor, Bass and Contrabass Trombone.
Between 2008 and 2011 he was a member of the Board of Advisors of the International Trombone Association ” ITA.
Several composers have written works specifically for Javier such as the Concerto for Bass Trombone in Rem (Ignacio García Vidal), Piece for Bass Trombone and Wind Band OMAIRA (Carlos Pellicer), ETIAM CONCERTO for Contrabass Trombone and Orchestra (Angel Gaspar Tortosa) SHORT PIECE (William Pagan). CASTILLEJO for Contrabass Trombone and piano (Miguel Ibiza) CONCERT FOR BASS TROMBONE AND WIND BAND (Martínez Gallego) and the CONTIENTAL CONCERTO (Gregory Fritze)
He continues a very active chamber music schedule such as:
- Glissando Trombone Quartet
- The Doble Slide Project
- The Voice of The Trombone
- The Comtat Brass Trio
- Solos, recitals and premieres on a yearly basis.
The next project is a Bass and Contrabass Trombone project with the Ruperto Chapí Symphony Orchestra, and Filharmonia Wind Orchestra.
Javier is a teacher at the Conservatorium – School “Escola Comarcal de Música del Comtat”, and a very active international trombonist teaching and playing many solo concerts around the world.
