Samuel Sánchez Gómez, a native of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, began as a trumpet player at the age of 12 at the Generoso Morales Muñoz School with Professor Gabriel Verdejo. He then continued his studies at the Escuela Libre de Música de Caguas Antonio Paoli with professors Carmelo Acevedo, Efrén Rodríguez, Luis Aponte and Alexis Trinta.
He was a member of the Municipal Band of San Lorenzo and the Municipal Band of Caguas Samuel Sánchez has stood out from an early age as a trumpet player in the musical genre of merengue where he has stood out for his way of creating “mambos” and “moñas”. He has had the opportunity to play in countries such as Spain, Holland, Amsterdam, Canary Islands, Canada, the United States, Colombia, Panama, Peru, Ecuador among others.
He has been a member of the merengue group Grupo Manía for more than 10 years, the first merengue group to win a Grammy Awards. He has accompanied many groups and artists such as Elvis Crespo, Johnny Ventura, Grupo Mayombe, Grupo Karis, Juan Luis “Juancho”, Tony Tun Tun, Roberto Rohena y su Apolo Sound, Grupo Mambo, Joseph Fonseca, Grupo N’Klave, Limite 21, Giselle, Melina León, Planéalo among many others.
Samuel has been using Denis Wick mouthpiece since 1998. He currently uses a Classic 5X mouthpiece.
